Skywalk Bundle

This bundle features some of the possibilities of ceiling-mounted cat furniture combined with a few wall mounted shelves.

In the showcased layout the ceiling area is around 3,3 x 2,5m / 130" x 94" and the wall elements are spread out at approximately 1m / 40" on each wall.

The items could be rearranged in countless arrangements. The sizes of everything can be customized, and adjusted to the lengths that are more suitable to your space.

The setup is great for cats of all sizes, wide enough for two cats to pass each other, and offers ample for them to sprawl. It can easily hold multiple cats at once, as the shelves are sturdy and stable.

We created this visual to help you grasp the possibilities of using such cat furniture. We showcased how a WideBridge could be integrated into a ceiling mounted platform and continue onto a standard wall mounted shelf. How different lengths of Skyway platforms could look with a SkyHex. And how the SkyHexes could be stacked along one another to form a cool structure, a fun element up high.

Bridges could be connected to the structure using our Solo mounts, which means they could be screwed on top of a bookshelf and onto one of the ceiling platforms, at any angle needed. The bundle features both integrated mounts which blend into the furniture for a sleeker look and Solo mounts which are attached to the furniture and offer great flexibility with the angles at which they can be mounted.

The SkyHex and SkyWay are accessible from all sides, so options for mounting are endless. The options offer a single length for all 3 Skywalks in the bundle but they are not fixed and You can pick different lengths for each SkyWalk. To do That please select the average length of the SkyWalks from the options and use the personalization note to specify the actual length of each SkyWalk. I.E. pick 60cm as the length and write "SkyWalk 50cm, 60cm, and 70cm" in the note.

All units can hold the weight of multiple cats at once, but it all depends on the mounting surface and the plugs or anchors used. 
 
⚠️MOUNTING ON CEILING⚠️
The load bearing capacity of the structure depends mainly on the type of ceiling it's mounted onto. Ceilings in our part of the world are mostly concrete, so mounting the shelves wherever is easy and straightforward. We do provide universal plugs and screws that work well with most classic ceiling types. For ceilings made with drywall or plasterboard, ceiling beams/joists are ideal for this but other types of wooden/metal structure that holds the drywall in place can also be used to screw the shelves into.

While drywall alone can hold about 1.6 -2 lbs per square foot, mounting an object to the stud with the proper hardware allows the drywall to support up to 45kg/100 lbs. One square meter (around 11 sq feet) of (properly installed) single layer plasterboard can support a weight of around 15kg/33lbs. The same surface of double plasterboard can support around 25kg/55lbs, and the triple wallboard can support 35kg/77lbs.

Drywall anchors can hold anywhere from 10 to 200 pounds, depending on the type, installation method and the drywall thickness and quality. Always choose an anchor rated for at least double the weight of your cat and the item you are mounting. Since the items mostly have 4 mounting points, the weight will be distributed over a larger area, especially on larger items.

Avoid mounting items onto hanging ceilings as they are very limited in the weight they can carry and serve more of a decorational purpose!
 
🐾We've been focusing on creating cat safe spaces primarily for smaller living arrangements, where every inch of vertical space counts. Sometimes we just don't have the luxury of giving our cats more wall climbing spaces, so we work with what we have, creating small climbs up to the tops of our closets or bookshelves can seem like the end of possibilities. But what if we could make more walkable cat spaces using ceiling mounted shelves that are designed just for them?
We started with our hexagonal platform SkyHex which could be used as an intersection between shelves coming from different angles or as a large perching area up high. We carpeted it for extra grip and to soften their zoomies up high.

As cats are naturally drawn to heat, the fact that the warm air goes up will entice them to nap up high, benefiting from the laws of thermodynamics. It's good to be a cat, always a warm spot available somewhere.
Skyway is our ceiling mounted cat walkway, a line of pathway shelves of a couple of standard lengths from 60 to 110cm long. Skyway has a small railing and is carpeted. Everything is fully customizable, so it could have higher railings, shorter height, or be without carpet. Other options are available.
